To Scan or Not to Scan

Feb 17, 2020

This is your weekly dose of inspiration, insight, training on all things Clear Aligners as well as  implementation, team cohesion and building an incredible office culture.

This week's topic is: TO SCAN OR NOT TO SCAN?

When is the right time to buy a scanner for my practice? Is it necessary? How will it impact my clear aligner systems?

I am going to speak from the team's perspective and how it has impacted clear aligners and the processes.

First let me summarize: IT CHANGED EVERYTHING.

TOP THREE WAYS WE USE IT:

  1. Scanning every single New Patient to have an initial record- we show them their occlusion, wear, recession, crowding and make a plan to monitor or treat it. This educational experience for our patients is INVALUABLE.

  1. We scan for all of our restorative and clear aligner work - faster turnarounds, no more processing impressions for shipping, less confusion with the lab,  faster appointment and chair times while still maintaining excellent work.

  1. Scan in our Oral Function Screening Program to monitor all of our existing patients risk factors and educate them on what we are seeing in their mouth.

BUT THE BIGGEST GAME CHANGER

Patient perspective and experience.

Hands down this has been the biggest value adder to our practice. This creates buy -in for the patient to SEE what is happening in their mouth. The amount of patients we have that have complimented our practice on being modern, advanced, and forward thinking has been huge. It builds trust, engagement and excitement for the patient. There has not been another single product or machine that we have purchased that had such an impact on our patients.

You may not think its the right time to purchase a scanner for your practice but I guarantee you will not only make back your investment - you will change the way you practice.

The future of dentistry is digital.

Until next time,

Allison
